Is it time to clean the cell?
If the tan surfaces inside the cell have a white scaly build-up, it is time to clean the cell. Unscrew the element and soak the plates in a mild solution until clean. reverse the operation after cleaning to close the cell and put it back into operation.
Cleaning Solution
Make a cleaning solution by mixing 1part muratic acid to 3 parts water. (Muratic acid is available at most pool supply stores.) To avoid accidents, follow mixing directions on the acid container.
How long to soak the cell?
Soak the cell for approximately 5-20 minutes until all white deposits have desolved. When done, simply poor the remaining cleaning solution into your pool.
