ECOmatic™ systems generate a chlorine sanitizer, sodiumhypochlorite, from sodium chloride (table salt) dissolved in pool water. The pool water is mildly salted by adding salt either directly into the pool or via the balance tank, to achieve a 0.3% solution — around one third as salty as a human tear drop. The pool water is then pumped via the pool’s filtration system, through the ECOmatic electrolytic cell which converts sodium chloride into natural chlorine which destroys bacteria, viruses and algae. The salt is not consumed in the process, however salt should be added to the pool periodically to replenish what is lost through backwashing and bather splash out.
Can it operate with other chemical systems?
All ECOmatic models can operate in conjunction with chemical automation systems. Balboa Direct strongly recommends that stabilizer be used in outdoor pools and that other usual parameters of pool water balance be maintained as they would with a traditionally chlorinated pool. Balboa Direct also recommends the use of a chemical automation system.
